“Wise men speak because they have something to say. Fools speak because they have to say something”
- Plato
This quote is especially true in the courtroom. Every attorney has experienced the temptation to say more when there is nothing meaningful to add. This urge often comes from a desire to appear like zealous advocate for your client, or from feeling obligated to respond to an opponent’s argument. But speaking without purpose usually weakens your position rather than strengthening it. However unless you have something important to say, this usually ends up hurting your position. Remember The Genius Is In The Simplicity.
